Protected Planet Reports

The Protected Planet Report series helps track international progress towards achieving global biodiversity targets- notably Aichi Biodiversity Target 11 and the Sustainable Development Goals as well as focusing on key aspects relating to protected areas and biodiversity. The series includes reports that the cover the Global, Regional and National level.

The series was launched in 2012 with the publication of the Protected Planet Report 2012,this was followed in 2014 by the Protected Planet Report 2014 as well as the first regional Protected Planet Report- The Asia Protected Planet Report, in 2016 the Protected Planet Report 2016 and the first national report- the Protected Planet National Technical Series: Republic of Korea.The most recent edition of the report, Protected Planet Report 2018 was launched in November 2018.The online version of this report is accessible here.

The different reports discuss the situation relating to biodiversity and protected areas in the context of the various scales- the national report has the opportunity to discuss in details the situation relating to protected areas an biodiversity in a specific country, the regional report discuses the situation in context of the regional settings and the global report fcuses on the global picture.
